I’m hot on the trail of the next version of the RSS reader for TiVo. The reader will get some teeth and demonstrate a way to make PVR usage a social experience. It will be another night or two before the new version is ready, but here are a couple of hints. We can use RSS for other stuff besides reading Web content. We will write a new RSS module in the process.

  1. Random neural firing: tivo has rendezvous support, right? (I recall something about using that to get at itunes music for playing, unless that was replaytv instead.) You could hook into that to get people to rendezvous-share rss feeds or OPML files (or whatever – “the feeds they read”) and so the tivo could just pick up on what “people in the room” are reading…
