A childhood friend of mine is missing since the tsunami struck on Monday. His name is Ben Abels. On Monday he was in Thailand, on Phi Phi island. His family is searching for him as of 10:55pm CST last night. The linked article contains detail about Ben and where he was last seen. Since I’m on vacation, I took a little extra time to try something I’d never tried before: listen to the “special features” audio commentary on a DVD. Have you ever tried it? I was struck by informality and simplicity. It felt as though I were sitting in a room chatting with the director about the movie. Reminded me of podcasts a bit.
